What is Your Calling
1 Peter 4:10-11 10Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very Words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
The bottom line to any calling is recognizing what you’re good at.
Really?
We often overlook the things that excited us as kid and made us want to be an astronaut, or a doctor, or whatever it was. We think it was some silly “kid thing.” But was it?
Typically our calling has something to do with what delighted us as children. That is your calling. It’s something that comes easy for you to do. Naturally. Yet others are amazed at how easy it is for you.
That is your calling.
What do I do now?
As 1 Peter 4:10-11 says (above) we are to use that calling to serve others rather than ourselves. It’s the motivation behind it. Are you doing it to help someone else, or is it being used selfishly?
Here are a few principles to help:
-
Dedicate yourself to the calling God gave you over communion and prayer to the Lord. Acknowledge the gifting God gave you, to the Father in Jesus Name. And ask for His help in showing you how best He would like for you to do it.
-
If you have an office, or computer, or whatever means the Lord has you working in for your calling, pray over it. Dedicate the equipment or space to the Lord. Plead the Blood of Jesus upon it and seal it in the Blood of Jesus.
-
Each day as you are doing the calling (job) pray over it. Thank the Lord for showing you how to help people that day. And always give glory to God.
-
Stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit throughout the day of how to do things. If you miss it, don’t worry about it. Repent. Get back into communication with the Lord.
-
Rely on the strength of God to do the calling He gave you. And tell Him you are relying on His strength.
-
Tithe as your led by the Holy Spirit. If you have a church, fine. If you follow an on-line pastor, fine. However the Holy Spirit leads you to do it. He may even lead you to give money in other ways - perhaps an organization that gets Bibles out to people; or one that helps battered women. Whatever it is and however the Lord leads, do what He is giving you to do.
-
Always give glory to the Lord for the gifting He gave you.
