The Depth of Holy Communion

Before you partake in Holy Communion, think on these things. When satan attacks and tries to destroy you, Remember!!

TAKE THIS PERSONALLY AS IF JESUS DID THIS ONLY FOR YOU - BECAUSE HE WOULD HAVE!!!

1 Corinthians 11:23-32 (TPT)

“I have handed down to you what came to me by direct revelation from the Lord Himself. The same night which He was handed over, He took the bread and gave thanks. Then He distributed it to the disciples, and said, “Take it and eat your fill. It is My Body, which is given for you. Do this to remember Me.” He did the same with the cup of wine after supper and said, “This cup seals the New Covenant with My Blood. Drink it - and whenever you drink this, do it to remember Me.”

“For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are retelling the story, proclaiming the Lord’s death until He comes. For this reason, whoever eats the bread and drinks the cup of the Lord in the wrong spirit will be guilty of dishonoring the Body and Blood of the Lord. So let each individual first evaluate his own attitude and only then eat the bread and drink the cup. For continually eating and drinking with a wrong spirit will bring judgement upon yourself by not recognizing the Body. This insensitivity is why many of you are weak, chronically ill and some even dying. It you do not sit in judgement of others, you will avoid judgement yourself. But when we are judged, it is the Lord’s training so that we will not be condemned along with the world.”

So, What are we remembering? Jesus crucified, Jesus’ death, Jesus buried? On the third day He rose from the dead? Yes, but there’s so much more.

Genesis 4:10

“The LORD said, ‘What have you done? The voice of your brother’s innocent blood is crying out to Me from the ground for justice.”

This is where Cain slew Abel and shows us that the voices of the blood speak!

Hebrews 9:22

“In fact under the Law almost everything is cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is neither forgiveness nor release from sin and its guilt; nor the cancellation of the merited punishment.”

Hebrews 12:24

“and to Jesus, the Mediator of a New Covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks a better and nobler and more gracious message than the blood of Abel,”

Abel’s blood cried out for vengeance. The blood of Abel spoke revenge but the Blood of Jesus speaks Redemption.

John 12:27 (TPT)

“Even though I am torn within, and My soul in turmoil, I will not ask the Father to rescue Me from this hour of trial.”

Jesus spoke this prior to His agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus was dealing with His mind, will and emotions regarding His upcoming trial, torture and death. You know the Father showed Him what He was going to go through. He knew what He would face in the torture and in the separation from the Father and in hell. It had to be on His mind continually.

Matthew 26:37-44 (TPT)

“He took Peter, Jacob and John, However an intense feeling of great sorrow plunged His Soul into deep sorrow and agony and He said to them,

‘My heart is overwhelmed and crushed with grief. It feels as though I’m dying. Stay here and keep watch with Me.’ Then He walked a short distance away, and overcome with grief, He threw Himself face down on the ground and prayed,  ‘My Father, if there is any way You can deliver Me from this suffering, please take it from Me. Yet what I want is not important for I only desire to fulfill Your plan for Me.’ Then an angel from heaven appeared to strengthen Him.”

Luke 22:39-44

“And He came out and went, as was His habit, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples followed Him. When He arrived at the place Gethsemane, He said to them, “Pray continually that you may not fall into temptation.” And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup (of divine wrath) from Me; yet not My will, but (always) Yours be done.” Now an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony (deeply distressed and anguished; almost to the point of death), He prayed more intently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down on the ground.”

Jesus was in torment. He was fighting to get His will in alignment with the Father’s will. He knew what the Father was asking of Him. He knew the pain, torture and torment that lay before Him; so much so He sweated blood wrestling with His will. He did this for us so we don’t have to struggle so greatly to align ourselves with the Father’s will for us. Jesus paid the price for our willfulness with own His Blood.

Psalms 22:1-18

“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, and from the words of My groaning? O My God, I call out by day, but You do not answer; And by night, but I find no rest nor quiet. But You are holy, O’ You Who are enthroned in the praises of Israel. In You our fathers trusted; They trusted and You rescued them. They cried out to You and were delivered; they trusted in You and were not disappointed or ashamed.

But I am (treated as) a worm (insignificant and powerless) and not a man; I am the scorn of men and despised by the people. All who see Me laugh at Me and mock Me; they (insultingly) open their lips, they shake their head, saying, ‘He trusted and committed Himself to the LORD, let Him save Him. Let Him rescue Him, because He delights in Him.’

Yet You are He who pulled Me out of the womb; You made Me trust when on My mother’s breasts. I was cast upon You from birth; from My mother’s womb You have been My God. Do not be far from Me, for trouble is near; And there is no one to help. Many bulls have surrounded Me; strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me. They open wide their mouths against Me, Like a ravening and a roaring lion. I am poured out like water, And all My bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax; It is melted within Me. My strength is dried up like a fragment of clay pottery; And My tongue clings to My jaws; And You have laid Me in the dust of death. For dogs have surrounded Me; A gang of evildoers has encircled Me, They pierced My hands and My feet. I can count all My bones; They look, they stare at Me. They divide My clothing among them and cast lots for My garment.”

The chastisement of our peace was upon Him as He hung on the cross. This means the torturing of our minds, our souls. His soul being ravaged by satan and his demons. Jesus paid the price for all of our torment and anguish as He hung on that cross so we wouldn’t have to endure it.

Isaiah 53:1-12

“Who has believed our message?
And to whom has the arm and infinite power of the LORD been revealed? For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of dry ground;
He has no stately form or majestic splendor That we would look at Him,

Nor appearance that we would be attracted to Him. He was despised and rejected by men, A man of sorrows and pain and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their faces.

He was despised, and we did not appreciate His worth or esteem Him. But (in fact) He has borne our griefs,

And He has carried our sorrows and pains; Yet we assumed that He was stricken, struck down by God and degraded and humiliated (by Him). But He was     wounded for our transgressions,

He was crushed for our wickedness.The punishment (required) for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, We have turned, each one, to his own way; But the LORD has caused the wickedness of us all (our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing) to fall on Him (instead of us). He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth (to complain or defend Himself); Like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before her shearers, So He did not open His mouth. After oppression and judgment He was taken away;

And as for His generation, who (among them) concerned himself with the fact that He was cut off from the land of the living, for the transgression of My people, to whom the stroke (of death) was due? His grave was assigned with the wicked, But He was with a rich man in His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth. Yet the LORD was willing to crush Him, causing Him to suffer; If He would give Himself as a guilt offering (an atonement for sin), He shall see His (spiritual) offspring, He shall prolong His days, And the Will (good pleasure) of the LORD shall succeed and prosper in His hand.

As a result of the anguish of His soul, He shall see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge (of what He has accomplished) the Righteous One, My Servant, shall justify the many (making them righteous—upright before God, in right standing with Him), For He shall bear (the responsibility for) their sins. Therefore, I will divide and give Him a portion with the great (kings and rulers), And He shall divide the spoils with the mighty, Because He (willingly) poured out His life to death, And was counted among the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore and took away the sin of many, And interceded (with the Father) for the transgressors.”

Jesus took our punishment in His soul; (His Mind, His Will and His Emotions.) He took our punishment in His Body. They held handfuls of His beard, and hair and pulled it out by the roots. They kicked, punched, and spit on Him for hours. Until there wasn't a single spot on His body not covered in blood. They shoved a crown of thorns down on His head. They beat Him with reeds so the thorns were imbedded right through His skull. After hours of being beaten, mocked, whipped, flogged, and tortured they made Him walk with a cross. They made Him carry it. A heavy, rough piece of wood with splinters digging into His fresh wounds. They wanted Him to feel every bit of pain they could bring. He had to endure the pain so He can heal us. He took our spiritual death, separation from the Father upon Himself so we could be reconciled to the Father. He cried out on the cross, “Father, Father, why have You forsaken Me.” In this moment He became sin itself and the Father had to turn His Back on Him. It was the first time Jesus was without the Father’s presence. Jesus experienced death in His Spirit, a total separation from His Father. His legs did not have to be broken to insure His death. I believe He died of a broken heart.

1 Corinthians 11:26-32

“So then whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in a way that is unworthy (of Him) will be guilty of (profaning and sinning against) the Body and Blood of the Lord. But a person must examine himself (and his relationship to Christ), and only when he has done so should he eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks (without solemn reverence and heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifice of Christ), eats and drinks a judgment on himself if he does not recognize the Body (of Christ). That (careless and unworthy participation) is the reason why many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep (in death). But if we evaluated and judged ourselves honestly (recognizing our shortcomings and correcting our behavior), we would not be judged. But when we (fall short and) are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined (by undergoing His correction) so that we will not be condemned along with the world.”

Jesus, hanging on that cross in cruel torture, pain and torment said; “ Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.“  How can we justify ourselves for not forgiving wrongs done to us. Our Lord sinless, innocent, holy and pure took upon Himself the cup of God’s wrath that rightfully belongs to us. The world, Jew and Gentile alike screamed for His crucifixion. Taking our punishment, He asked the Father to forgive us. How can we as believers do less.

Luke 23:44-47

“It was now about the sixth hour (noon), and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour (3:00 p.m.), because the sun was obscured; and the veil (of the Holy of Holies) of the temple was torn in two (from  top to bottom). And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said,

“Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT!”

Having said this, He breathed His last. Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he began praising and honoring God, saying, “Certainly this Man was innocent.”

Psalm 16:8 -11 TPT

“Because you are close to Me and always available, My confidence will never be shaken, for I experience Your wrap-around presence every moment. My Heart and Soul explode with joy - full of glory!

Even My Body will rest confident and secure.
For you will not abandon Me to the realm of death, nor will You allow Your Holy One to experience corruption. For you bring Me a continual revelation of resurrection life, the path to the bliss that brings Me face-to-face with You.”

Jesus used His Faith to conquer hell and the grave. He trusted The Father to raise Him up in glory!   The devil created death when he caused Adam and Eve to sin against Father God. Jesus caused death, the devil’s creation, to be destroyed right there in hell; satan’s own territory.

Colossians 2:15 (TPT)

“Then Jesus Made a public spectacle of all the powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us. And by the power of the cross, Jesus led them around as prisoners in a procession of triumph. He was Not their prisoner; they were His!!!”

Now as we eat the bread that symbolizes The Body of Jesus, we reflect on the great price Jesus paid for our health, peace of mind, and well being.

As we drink the wine, we remember the tremendous price that Jesus paid for our new covenant with the Father. When we received Jesus into our hearts, He recreated us brand new. Our sinful old man died with Jesus on that cross and we became new and once again united to the Father. He put His law (Word) into our hearts and minds.

Matthew 26:26-28

Now as they were eating,  Jesus took bread, and after blessing it, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”

(NOTE: Only OT priests were allowed to eat of the sacrifice, showing us we are a kingdom of priests as we partake in Holy Communion. OT priests were the only ones allowed to carry and teach the Law of God. We as a kingdom of priests have God’s Law put into our minds and hearts.)

“And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; for this is My Blood of The (new and better) Covenant, which (ratifies the agreement and) is being poured out for many (as a substitutionary atonement) for the forgiveness of sins. “But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”

Isaiah 52:14 TPT

“Just as many were appalled at Him, for so marred was His appearance, like an object of horror; He no longer looked like a man.”

We are use to seeing images of the crucification that do not reflect the truth of what Jesus went through to save us from judgement. He was so disjointed and disfigured, He didn’t look like a man.

When we receive the revelation of the horror Jesus went through, the very idea of letting satan steal from us the very things bought for us at such a great price is not an option. Jesus gave everything He was. Spirit, Soul, and Body. He died Spirit, Soul, and Body so we can have life eternally.

Before you partake in Holy Communion, think on these things. When satan attacks and tries to destroy you, Remember!!
