Curses of a Nation

Beyond Generational Family Curses

There can be more than a curse upon a family passed down from one generation to the next as Numbers 14:18-20 states. Yes, we are redeemed from the curse of the law as Romans 8:2 says but say you are the first to get saved in your family, you may have the curses broken when you got saved. But sometimes the Lord doesn’t do that. He wants you to learn about it to help free others. 

And there are more than curses of the family line. There are curses within the land and the rulership of that land. For example, if you live in the United Kingdom, there are curses upon that land for the way the empire has been governed. Plus, if you live in Ireland there are curses upon that land as well. There are three reasons why curses of a nation come on the people: 1. The rulers of that nation disobeying God; 2. The priests of that nation disobeying God; 3. The people of that nation disobeying God.

Jeremiah 2:7-9 - “I brought you into a fertile land to eat its fruit an rich produce. But you came and defiled My land and made My inheritance detestable. 8. The priests did not ask, ‘Where is the Lord?’ Those who deal with the law did not know Me; the leaders rebelled against Me; the prophets prophesied by Baal, following worthless idols. 9. Therefore I bring charges against you again,” declared the Lord, “And I will bring charges against your children, and your children’s children.”

All of chapter 2 speaks of a nation from its people to its rulers, to its priests and prophets walking out on God. This nation of America has clearly done this very thing from much of the public, its rulers-no matter the party line, to bad religious leaders and false prophets. All of which are end times situations that come out in abundance. Very clearly the Lord states a nation is held accountable for its leaders, priests, and prophets, as well as the people: and how they all operate. One translation says the Lord not only brings charges, but brings a curse against the people of that land. And not to put too fine a point on it look at verses 20-25 - it’s all about being focused on immoral sex. And look at the focus point of our nation. Adultery, fornication, homosexual, transgender, beastiality, pedophilia, pornography. In the last 5 years (since 2020) these things have exploded on the public scene.

Here’s another, look at Daniel 9:1-17 ESV-

“1In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, by descent a Mede, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans— 2in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, perceived in the books the number of years that, according to the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet, must pass before the end of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.

3Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking Him by prayer and pleas for mercy with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.

4 I prayed to the LORD my God and made confession, saying, “O Lord, the great and awesome God, Who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep His commandments,

5we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules.

6We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your Name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

7To You, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us open shame, as at this day, to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, those who are near and those who are far away, in all the lands to which you have driven them, because of the treachery that they have committed against you.

8To us, O LORD, belongs open shame, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you.

9To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him 10and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God by walking in his laws, which He set before us by His servants the prophets.

11All Israel has transgressed Your law and turned aside, refusing to obey Your voice. And the curse and oath that are written in the Law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out upon us, because we have sinned against Him.

12He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us and against our rulers who ruled us, by bringing upon us a great calamity. For under the whole heaven there has not been done anything like what has been done against Jerusalem.

13As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this calamity has come upon us; yet we have not entreated the favor of the LORD our God, turning from our iniquities and gaining insight by Your truth.

14Therefore the LORD has kept ready the calamity and has brought it upon us, for the LORD our God is righteous in all the works that He has done, and we have not obeyed His voice.

15And now, O Lord our God, Who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and have made a Name for yourself, as at this day, we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

16“O Lord, according to all Your righteous acts, let your anger and your wrath turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy hill, because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people have become a byword among all who are around us. 17Now therefore, O our God, listen to the prayer of Your servant and to his pleas for mercy, and for Your own sake, O Lord, make Your face to shine upon Your sanctuary, which is desolate.”

Daniel repented for his nation and rulers. He interceded. It’s not that he sinned but his nation had sinned and the curse upon the nation was what he was going through. When you consider your heritage, each country, perhaps empire(s) all have curses on them - on the people of that land. Even if you do not live there, the heritage is in your family line. Thus the curse is too.

To make it personal this is how the Lord showed me. I had been having severe back pain before I wrote this article. It was since the start of December 2023 - it had been nearly 8 months at the time I am writing this. Sometimes it has been absolutely debilitating. I have been hardly able to work out or to even do daily tasks around the house.

The original injury was in the summer of 2018. My strength is not what I'm used to. I've always been very strong my entire life. This injury has been ebbing and flowing since 2018. It has definitely tried my patience. 

Backstory (pardon the pun): I had pulled the ligament in my spine from the bottom of my shoulder blades to the middle of my lower back (T9-10 to L3). Once you pull a ligament there is nothing to do by way of medical means other than surgery. No way am I ever going to do a spinal surgery like that. I know my God!! By Jesus' stripes I am HEALED!!! If God be for me, who can be against me!

HE CREATED THE UNIVERSE - HE CAN CERTAINLY HEAL A PIDDLY LITTLE THING LIKE A LIGAMENT!

When the injury initially occurred in 2018 I did standard therapeutic means of ice and heat, light work outs with a lot of rep's, and natural anti-inflammatory ointments like coconut oil and arnica; and of course  standing on healing scripture. I did both. It was fine in a couple of months.

In December of 2023 I injured it again and this time it was not healing. At the time of this writing it is summer of 2024. I did the same kind of means as last time but nothing was really helping. I was only a little better. Many times I was still completely debilitated. I didn't understand what was going on. It made no sense to me.

I had already broken all family curses and I didn't know of any sin but there had to be a doorway for the attack to happen. I just couldn't make sense of this. Let me give a bit more of the story: health issues have always been an issue for me since I was a young girl in school starting with scarlet fever when I was in high school. Something so rare at the time I had it (in the '80's), to other life and death issues through 2001. Jesus got me through all of it! Praise God!! 

Going to be completely upfront here...the week of this epitome was rough! I kinda lost it. That doesn't happen often. And with all the health stuff I've gone through and standing on the Word through it, I didn't think I could go through it again. It's too much. I simply asked the Lord to just take me home. I'm done. BUT God knows what He's doing. I trust Him.

A little later when I had pulled myself together, I was asking the Lord is there some "unknown" sin, curse, what's going on? 'Cause health issues can be one of two things: unforgiveness or part of a curse. (As are anything recurring like financial issues, relationship issues, family issues.)

So why now? What's going on?

The Lord showed me this: Daniel 9 and Ezekiel 8. The gist is this - the curse of the Lord (Deuteronomy 28:14-61) comes ON the PEOPLE of a Nation!!!! ...because of the political leaders AND the religous leaders!!!! Duh! 🙄

I had never thought about that on other nations and cultures!

I had never broken the curses that are on this country for me because I was born here: plus the curses in my heritage. This included: American Empire, Roman Empire, British Empire, & Prussian Empire.

All of the blood spilled for each empire carries with it the curse of the Lord - the blood cries out to the ears of the Lord for vengeance - Genesis 4:9-12. Which also includes the sacrifice of babies, eating human flesh and drinking of blood (the life is in the blood and blood is not to be consumed). This is especially true in this nation.

All the scuzzy things our politician's do, we get the curses from it!

So this is what I prayed:

1. Repented for the sins of my nation politically and from the priests of this nation (all types of priests and there are so many heretical "priests" or better to say "church leaders").

2. Repented for the Empires of my heritage politically and the priests of each empire.

3. Received forgiveness from my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

4. Cut all cords to the sins of my nation that I was born in and the nations of my heritage. Proverbs 5:21-23.

5. Asked the Lord Jesus to wash me clean of it all with His precious Blood.

6. Asked the Lord to lift His curse off of me in Jesus Name.

7. Announce that I receive His deliverance in Jesus Name!! 

MY BACK HAS BEEN PAIN FREE since the prayer! 

Now...word of caution...I did a bit too much that day because I felt so good and am not in shape like I used to be 5 years ago before the injury, so a bit sore the next day. BUT I AM FREE OF THAT BACK INJURY!! HALLELUJAH! THANK YOU JESUS FOR YOUR DELIVERANCE YOU HAVE WROUGHT FOR ME!!!
