God's Calling
God the Father has a calling and He has put it upon Himself
God has His very own calling and we see this in Ephesians 1:18 “…what is the hope of His calling”
What is the “hope of His calling?” Let’s look at the word “calling” in Strong’s - Greek #2821:
Klésis -“invitation; always of a divine call. (from 2564 /kaléō, "to call, summon") – used of God inviting all people to receive His gift of salvation – with all His blessings that go with it (Ro 11:29; Eph 4:4; 2 Pet 1:10). The divine invitation to embrace salvation in the kingdom of God”
God’s Own Personal Calling is for All Men to Embrace Salvation!
That’s far bigger than what we have thought before!
When you put Ephesians 1:18 with 1 Timothy 2:4-6; 2 Tim 1:9-10; and 2 Peter 3:9 it makes a fuller picture:
“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you… who wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time…He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, Who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel…The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
That’s powerful! God’s own calling on Himself is for all men to be saved and know what He has done for us through Christ Jesus!
His grace with this calling was done before time began (2 Tim. 1). That means before Genesis 1:4-5 when God created “time.” (*See articles on Crucifixion and Second Death.) This was when God wrote our names in the Lamb’s Book of Life - it was before the foundation of the world - Ephesians 1:3-6 and Revelation 13:8 NIV.
THIS is God’s calling - to save mankind! And when He says something, it’s a promise, and all of God’s promises are “yes” and “so be it.” God will be sure His promise made to HIMSELF will come to pass. You don’t have to worry about it. You can count on it.
